Padmounted Primary Metering Gear
Knowledge is power. With Shallbetter’s Primary Metering Gear, you can safely meter primary voltages from 5-35 kV and reliably measure power usage. Shallbetter equipment comes assembled and ready for installation, saving you time and money on-site.
Live Front and Dead Front units are available in single- or three-phase configurations, loop or radial feeds, with 200 or 600 Amp bushings standard, upgradeable to 1200 Amp. Order the cabinets alone, or have Shallbetter source, supply and install Instrument Transformers.

Live Front or Dead Front units are available in single- or three-phase configurations, loop or radial feeds in 200, 600 or 1200 Amp designs. Order the cabinets with provisions for customer-sourced/supplied/installed components or have Shallbetter supply the completed unit.

Flexibility
Ordering Shallbetter Primary Metering Gear provides a flexible solution to any customer’s metering needs. Customers can purchase the unit and install their own Current Transformers (CT’s) and Voltage Transformers (VT’s). Or, customers can ship CT’s and VT’s to our manufacturing facility, and request the Shallbetter team install them. Alternatively, we can source, supply and wire the CT’s and VT’s before delivering the equipment on-site.

The Challenge
A major U.S. utility wanted to save time and money by sourcing empty Shallbetter Padmounted Primary Metering Gear. The customer planned to install components and wire the units in their facility. However, component delivery and installations were fraught with logistics and lead-time problems.
